Comcast Volunteers Make Change Happen at Hidden Lake and STEM Campus
For the first time, Comcast Cares Day partnered with Westminster Public Schools to transform the Hidden Lake High School (HLHS) and Colorado STEM Academy (STEM) campus. Now in its 18th year, Comcast Cares Day is a long-standing company tradition that aims to help strengthen communities around the world where Comcast customers and employees live and work.
On Saturday, May 4, 71 Comcast volunteers and staff from HLHS and STEM came together to work on projects that both schools believed would make a significant difference. At HLHS, principal James Steward requested that every staff member on his team submit an inspirational quote. The staff had no idea that these quotes would be printed on vinyl lettering so that volunteers could place these quotes throughout the halls. While at HLHS, volunteers also coated interior doors with fresh paint.
At STEM, volunteers refreshed the paint on the blacktop and incorporated the school’s colors onto the four square courts. On the west side of the elementary building, volunteers installed garden boxes that students will use to learn about planting flowers and vegetables. Inside the elementary building, volunteers also organized closets and wiped down classrooms.
