Halloween Costumes and Info about Schools Highlights Annual WPS Showcase
Student learning and spooky costumes all came together on Tuesday, Oct. 22 during the sixth annual Westminster Public Schools District Showcase at Westminster High School. The two-hour event brings families from across the district together for an informative, entertaining night. During the Trick-or-Treat themed night, every principal sets up a booth to highlight what is going on in their building and shares the school’s Unified Improvement Plan (UIP) and major improvement plans for the school year.
The Colorado Department of Education requires every school to hold an informational meeting with the community, but because of people’s busy lives and babysitting requirements, turnout is often low. The District Showcase provides the best of both worlds. In addition to children (and many parents) collecting candy and showing off their costumes, this annual event gives community partners like the Boys & Girls Club an opportunity to tell families about their programs and learning opportunities.
Many schools also brought along their choirs and musicians to perform for audiences. Be sure to check out the video above that captures the fun of the evening!
