Note from Superintendent Swanson: Jan. 15, 2020

Dear Westminster Community,

Happy New Year from all of us in Westminster Public Schools!Happy New Year 2020

I hope you had a wonderful holiday break and spent some memorable time with family and friends.

When we came back to work last week, I sent a reminder to all of our staff and teachers that while we have accomplished a great deal in WPS, we still have much more in front of us and we must make the most of every day in the classroom. Every day matters for both teachers and students.

Parents, it is so important that your children show up for school on time and ready to learn.

As a parent, and now a grandmother, I know children get sick and sometimes important things to come up that keep a child out of school, but whenever possible, your child should be in the classroom.  Study after study confirms that a high rate of absenteeism has a detrimental effect on a child’s education.

We are now halfway through the school year, and after a refreshing mid-year break we must all push hard to the finish line.  The months ahead are critically important in the educational lives of our students.

One other note … During the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, January 28, I will be delivering my annual State of District remarks that provide an overview or our plans for the future.

You can watch the live stream of my remarks online or read the next issue of What’s Up WPS for complete coverage.

Kindest regards,

Dr. Pamela Swanson
