Come ‘Celebrate Excellence’ with WPS Students and Staff

Today is the day when hours of hardwork will pay off for Westminster Public Schools students as they come to Westminster High School to participate in the annual Celebrating Excellence! event.

You are invited to the free event that begins in the Joanna Ramsey Theatre at 5 p.m.

Students from across the district have been working at their home schools since last semester to prepare for tonight’s friendly competition. The evening celebrates the skills and abilities of students with varied interests and passions.

This week’s What’s Up WPS video takes you behind the scenes to see the “Road to Celebrating Excellence.”

The different categories are:

  • Creative Arts Performances
  • Math Counts
  • STEM Displays and Competitions
  • Visual Arts Displays
  • Lego League
  • Fluid Power Challenge

The evening culminates with the annual Spelling Bee where district students compete for the right to represent WPS in the state spelling bee later this month.

If you can’t make it to the event or have loved ones out of state, the Creative Arts Performance and Elementary and Middle School Spelling Bees will be live-streamed at MyWPS.org/live.

Earlier in the day, Westminster High School students will show their talents in the Third Annual Westy’s Got Skills Competition. The event is a prime showcase for high school students who hope to qualify to compete at the regional and state level for their Career Technical Education (CTE) Student Organizations.
