WPS Culinary Services Team Supplies Thanksgiving Meals for Families
For the last several months, the Westminster Public Schools Culinary Services team has been on the frontlines serving nutritious meals to families in the rain, sun and snow. On Thursday, Nov. 19 they spent another afternoon distributing meals at six drive-up locations including Westminster High School, Colorado Sports Leadership Academy and Shaw Heights Middle School.
Families were able to pick up breakfast and lunch for their students along with a special family meal consisting of roast turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, freshly baked rolls and rice crispy treats. Our partners, Food for Hope also stepped up to provide additional Thanksgiving meal bags.
In total, 10,000 Thanksgiving meals were given to families, that’s in addition to the 40,000 meals that are served each week. As the Culinary Services team continues to serve meals on school days, they will also be distributing meals at six sites including Westminster High School, Colorado Sports Leadership Academy, Ranum Middle School, Shaw Heights Middle School, Swim & Fitness Center and the City Park Recreation Center on the following dates during the holiday break: November 25, December 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30 and January 4-8.
The Culinary Services team will also continue to serve all school sites during remote learning. Click here to view the distributions times. Drive through meal pick up is available for all children 18 and under, children do not need to be present and identification is not required. Meals may be picked up at any location, all children are welcome regardless of where they live or attend school.
