As part of its relentless effort to help students prepare for the “Day after Graduation,” the Future Center at Westminster High School is now hosting twice-monthly information sessions that expose students to all of their options during the course of one visit.
The sessions with universities, colleges, employers, tech schools and the military are in addition to the one-on-one counseling opportunities the staff provides for students.
In 2019 The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) named Westminster Public Schools ICAP (Individual Career Academic Plan), “District of the Year” for its work to help students focus on career choices and college preparation.
In 2009, the Colorado legislature established ICAP and a requirement that Colorado school districts develop programs to address the needs of all high school students. The WPS Future Center fulfilled that role, and then some, by providing students of all ages the opportunity to utilize the center’s resources and expertise.
