WPS Teams up with ‘Food for Hope’ to Celebrate Thanksgiving
About 150 families will be able to cook their own Thanksgiving meal next week because of a wonderful partnership between Westminster Public Schools and “Food for Hope,” a nonprofit group that helps feed Adams County Families.
With the help of Chad Anderson, WPS Director of Culturally Linguistic Diverse Education, 150 families were identified that could take advantage of the holiday cooking supplies. Employees of Chartwells, the district food service provider, are delivering the meals this week.
“Food for Hope” was created in 2014 to provide nutritious food so Adams County students can eat nutritious meals and come to school fully prepared to learn and thrive. It’s estimated that the organization will provide the makings for about 1,750 Thanksgiving meals. More than 300 volunteers help make it happen.
