FRED Award Winners Prove Their Value Day In and Day Out
As the final FRED Award winners of 2021 were introduced to the community, Mike Lynch, Director of Secondary Education & Professional Development said they are proof that “Customer service is alive and well.”
Aurora Gonzalez and Javi Rodriguez-Manzanarez, were recognized as winners by the Board of Education for their support of students and staff in the district.

Aurora Gonzalez - Building Aide, Sunset Ridge
Nomination by Pam Stephenson
Aurora is starting her third year as a building aide at Sunset Ridge and she always goes above and beyond. She is always willing to take on any work that goes beyond her job description. Aurora completes all her tasks with ease and a positive attitude. She is a very quick learner. Her ability to help with technology is over the top and she is very loving so students know she cares about them. Her goal was to learn every student's name in a year. It is a pleasure to see her greet every student by name. Above all, you can always count on Aurora to brighten your day with her happy demeanor.
Nomination by Andrea Escaff
Aurora 100% deserves this award for her dedication to Sunset Ridge Elementary and the people she works with every day. Aurora is definitely the "go-to" person for parents, students, and teachers because she is always on top of everything going on. I cannot imagine the front office running as smoothly without her there. She is a rock star employee!
Nomination by Lance Sheriff
She does so much for staff and for the kids, from managing the Chromebook distribution for the entire school to acting as a wonderful liaison for our Spanish Speaking families. She approaches any new task with no hesitation and brings a bright, shining personality to school each and every day. She does so much for Sunset Ridge that words truly cannot describe.
Javi Rodriguez-Manzanarez, WPS Warehouse
Nomination by Sindy Williams-Harris – Hidden Lake High School
Javi brings our warehouse order every week and has always been personable, friendly and helpful. There was a time that I'd entered a request for student backpacks from the warehouse. Javi not only remembered that I had ordered some but asked to be sure they were received. I had forgotten about the request, and I truly appreciated that he remembered and followed up on the school's behalf. That is some deep-level customer service, and it was greatly appreciated!
