Note from Superintendent Swanson: Jan. 12, 2022

Dear Westminster Community,

“Wow, just wow!”

That was the reaction I shared with my team after reading teacher Kelly Biala’s message to coworkers in the aftermath of the Marshall Fire that destroyed her home and that of two other staff members. Eight others suffered damage and trauma from the wildfire.

You can read Kelly’s account of what happened and her sense of gratitude here and also a story on how the WPS community teamed up with the Westminster Public Schools Foundation to aid those impacted by the fire.

I’m not surprised by the outpouring of support from the WPS family because time and time again we have stepped forward to help one another.

As we start a new year in WPS, I can assure you that in spite of all the challenges, be it a fire or a pandemic, we are committed to giving our children the best education possible.

On Tuesday, January 25, I will be delivering my annual State of District report where I plan to provide an overview of our plans for the future and what we are calling “Destination 2030.”  I hope you will watch via livestream or catch the replay which will be available online.

I am confident in telling you that the resilience and compassion for one another that we have seen in the first two weeks of 2022 will serve us well as we chart our future.

Kindest regards,

Dr. Pamela Swanson

Superintendent of Schools
