District Showcase to Return on Oct. 27
The popular WPS District Showcase will return to Westminster High School on Thursday, October 27 from 5 to 7:00 p.m.
It’s an exciting night for students who wear their Halloween costumes and collect goodies, but it’s just as important for parents. By attending the Showcase, they get a chance to learn more about their individual schools and ask questions of principals.
The showcase also meets a Colorado Department of Education requirement that parents be included in what is known as the District Accountability Advisory Committee (DAAC) process. After a two-year pause because of the COVID-19 pandemic, DAAC will resume this year, allowing community members to expand their knowledge of the WPS mission, operations, and strategic priorities. All DAAC meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Robert J. Landgraf Center for Teaching Excellence.
Ryan McCoy, Executive Director, Post-Secondary and Workforce Readiness calls the DAAC process, “an invaluable learning opportunity,” adding that participants, “will leave the program with a solid understanding of the business and governance side of the educational system, providing leadership skills to be a more engaged community member.”
Applications for the WPS DAAC are being accepted through Monday, September 26.
