Drone Soccer Program Shared with Nation’s TV Viewers
Westminster High School’s Drone Soccer Program has been so successful that a TV news story about it has been viewed by people in Colorado and across the nation. Scripps National News, which airs on Channel 7 at 4:00 p.m., aired the profile of the program on Tuesday, September 20.
The drone soccer program at Westminster High School is one of just 60 now in operation across the country. It’s more than just a fun competition; for many students, it is the first step to a career in the aerospace industry. “This program encompasses students being able to build the drones, learn how to program them, learn how to fly them, learn how to repair them when they break them,” Robert Ferguson, the coach of the Westminster High School drone soccer team, told reporter Alexia Liacko.
If you would like to see drone soccer in action, WHS will be hosting a statewide match in the gymnasium on Saturday, November 19.
