Don Ciancio Honored for ‘Service to Profession’

Don Ciancio, Executive Director of Auxiliary Services, is this year’s winner of the Colorado Association of School Business Officials (CASBO) “Service to the Profession” award. It’s the association's highest honor.

A graduate of Ranum High School in 1979, Ciancio joined the district at a young age, working his way to the top of the organization where he oversees critical functions for the district, ranging from construction to security to transportation.

His brother Ken is President of the Board of Education and his father, also named Don, served on the board in the 1990’s.

The award was presented to Ciancio by CASBO Past President Ron McCulley, a friend and colleague who worked in the Douglas County School system.

“He has always been a rock, someone you could count on to step up for whatever the organization needed,” said McCulley.

“It’s a great honor, but it’s not a one-person award,” Ciancio told the Board of Education. “A lot of folks from all the departments  grind it out with day to day work that allows us to do what we do.”
