Weekly Update for December 14th-18th

Good Afternoon CSA Families,

I want to take a moment to reiterate some important messaging sent home from our district office.  As you know, this has been a year like no other, but in spite of all the obstacles and challenges in 2020, real learning continues and it is important that students work hard right up to the beginning of Winter Break on Friday, December 18.

As of right now, here are the plans for the first part of 2021.

If you have any questions, please call 303-429-STEM or email me directly at bmartin@mywps.org.

CSA In-Person Learners

  •         All students indicating the in-person preference on our last form will return to remote learning instruction on Tuesday, January 5 and then transition to in-person learning on Monday, January 11.
  •     Health officials believe remote instruction during the first week of January will decrease the possible spread of COVID-19 that might be acquired over the holidays.

CSA Remote Learners

  •     All students indicating the CSA remote preference on our last form will return to remote learning instruction on Tuesday, January 5.

WVA Online Learners

  •         Students will return to their online WVA classes on Tuesday, January 5.
  •     WVA teachers will communicate via email with students/parents about schedules and important information.

WPS Food Program

WPS will continue to provide meals for families at individual schools through Friday, December 18.  The meal program will resume at individual schools on Monday, January 4.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  Because of the impact COVID-19 is having on our hard-working food services team, there may be some changes in locations and hours.

Please check mywps.org/covid for the latest information.

Celebration of Excellence

To honor some of our traditional events like out annual science fair in this year of COVID, come join the fun! All WPS students can choose to participate in this year’s Celebrating Excellence! virtual event.

This is a great opportunity for students to show what they know and demonstrate their unique talents virtually in the areas of Performing Arts, Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Science, Technology, Engineering, Writing, Teaching, Leadership/Community Contributions, and Group Projects.

o Watch the video to learn more!

For students interested in participating and who would like more information on the event and how to submit, please complete this WPS Student INTEREST Form. The submission window is December 18, 2020 - March 29, 2021. Once submitted, a panel of judges will determine whether it will be uploaded to our Celebrating Excellence! website. Of those selected on the website, finalists in each category and age group will be awarded gifts and prizes which will be unveiled at our pre-taped Virtual Celebrating Excellence! Ceremony on April 16, 2021 at 5:30 p.m. Will your demonstration be among those chosen? We hope so! For questions, contact PEDAL Coordinator, Jennifer Rizzo at jrizzo@mywps.org or call 720-542-5308. Also, check out our CE! Webpage for more information and to see where students’ approved submissions will be displayed starting in January 2021.

 Spirit Week

Great news!  Colorado STEM Academy is encouraging all students and staff to participate in the Winter Spirit Week!  Each day we will have a new and exciting theme in which to participate.  Points will be given to students and staff that participate and are the most creative!  Winter Spirit Week will be December 14th-December 18th!  Check out our important date section for the themes. Good luck and we hope to see 100% participation from all of our awesome students!

We look forward to seeing you for another great week of remote learning.
