Colorado STEM Academy’s Elizabeth Gallegos Named a 2022 Teacher of the Year

Elizabeth Gallegos, a middle school literacy teacher at Colorado STEM Academy was selected as one of three educators in Westminster Public Schools (WPS) for the 2022 Westminster Elks Teacher of the Year honor. She was nominated by Brenda Martin, Principal at CSA who believes that everything Ms. Gallegos does is for the kids.

“She is dedicated to keeping them engaged and excited about learning,” said Martin. “She even has students meet with her before school to get caught up when behind. She collaborates with families and her team to truly make a difference for her students.”

Gallegos, along with Jory Hemming, a Science Teacher at Westminster High School and Dylan Shelofsky, a primary classroom teacher at Metropolitan Arts Academy were recognized at a Board of Education meeting on May 10.

Gallegos is passionate about literacy and she works to find novel studies and writing projects that interest her kids. As a STEM teacher, she is always considering unique ways to build in project-based learning into her planning.
