Weekly Update for September 19th- 23rd
District Accountability Advisory Council Needs You!If you want to learn more about WPS, meet a variety of district officials, share information with your school community and get to know engaged parents from schools across the District, we hope you consider applying for the 2022-2023 WPS District Accountability Advisory Council (DAAC).
WPS DAAC will allow you and other community members to expand your knowledge of our District’s mission, operations, and strategic priorities. You will leave the program with a solid understanding of the business and governance side of the educational system, providing you the leadership skills to be a more engaged community member. This will be an invaluable learning opportunity.
We are accepting applications now until September 26th. Depending on the applicant pool size, all applicants may not be accepted into this year’s program. Every effort will be made to ensure that all parents are provided an opportunity to become engaged in their school or District.

PTA Reflections
Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. This 50+ year-old program helps them explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life. Students participate in the appropriate division for their grade: Primary (Pre-K - Grade 2), Intermediate (Grades 3-5), Middle School (Grades 6-8), High School (Grades 9-12), Special Artist (All grades welcome).*
Submissions need to be turned in to Ms. Farrell by October 14th for judging. Student’s entries that place top 3 in their age category will have their entries move onto the regional competition.

Safety and Security
One of the five specific actions that can be performed as part of our standard response protocol is a SECURE. During a secure, students and staff return to the building if outside and continue business as usual. Teachers are trained to bring everyone indoors, check the security of all exterior doors, increase situational awareness, account for all students and adults, and return to business as usual. We are typically notified that we need to move to a SECURE status through our district Operations department or the Westminster Police Department.
