WHS Robotics Team Takes Home 3rd Place!

The rookie WHS Robotics Team competed at the Rocky Mountain BEST (Boosting Engineering, Science and Technology) Robotics competition on October 27th winning a 3rd place trophy and an invitation to attend the regional event in December. Students worked vigorously the last 6 weeks to design, build and program a robot from scratch using VEX robotics parts and custom pieces from various materials. The challenge of the event is for the robot to drive up and down a beam and collect plastic debris from the "ocean gyres" (bins in this case) and deposit those pieces into recycling containers held by Research Scientists and Field Engineers. The team of seven students and their teacher, Mr. Robert Ferguson, held 2nd place through the seeding rounds and semi-finals.  Ultimately, the team placed 3rd overall. Congratulations to our WHS Robotics Team!
