Westminster High School has many students interested in being teachers and it is important for them to start early as they embark on their future careers! This year marks the 16th year of the Future Teacher Expo, which is held at CU Denver, and we were excited to be a part of the event for the first time. The Future Teacher Expo is a free event designed to help high school students with career interests in education and learn more about their post-secondary options across the state.
Additionally, in early October, our Early Childhood Education students began their field experience and internships at Hodgkins Elementary, The Early Childhood Center and The Early Learning Center. Students are paired with a mentor teacher in an ECE classroom where they learn firsthand what it is like to be a teacher. They also work with other instructional support professionals in the education and training career pathway as a part of their internship. Students learn directly from their mentor teacher about lesson planning, classroom management, center activities, one-on-one interventions and so much more. We can’t wait to have our WHS graduates back in the district as teachers of future generations!
