ProStart Team Turns Up the Heat at this Year’s Competition!


On March 1, this year’s ProStart team took part at the annual ProStart competition, held at the Gaylord Rockies Hotel.  More than 200 students from across Colorado competed for $1 million in scholarship opportunities.  Teams prepare all year for the competition that includes menu development and execution of a 3-course meal.  Students have one hour to prepare all 3 courses only using 2 butane burners.  Our team members were Andy Moua, Devin Castro, Devin Gries, and Paris Cervantes.  Their menu was a three-cheese tortelloni, pan-seared Wagyu beef, and panna cotta with a berry coulis.  Competition guests raved about the beautiful presentation of the meal.  Judges said the communication and teamwork set our team apart from the others and that the plate creativity and student skill set were strong.
