FBLA Attends Conference in Vail and Helps the Community

Colorado Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) kicked off the year with the 2019 Fall Leadership Conference in Vail.  This was the first-of-its-kind conference that allowed members to showcase their knowledge and competitive edge in mock-tests, attend workshops, and learn about college and career opportunities while gaining lifelong business skills.

Members and advisers from 21 Colorado FBLA Chapters, totaling over 200 in attendance, spanning from all corners of the state filled the Grand Hyatt Vail with bright ideas and creative innovation.  Members dove into insightful Leadership Seminars given by workshop presenters.  Students heard from professors representing the University of Northern Colorado’s Monfort College of Business and the University of Colorado - Boulder - Leeds School of Business.  State FBLA Officers presented workshops on various FBLA topics. Members attending the conference transitioned from their workshops to putting their knowledge to the test in a mock testing competition. Both a competitive and anxious atmosphere flourished at the Grand Hyatt Vail as a result.

However, the most noteworthy event of the conference came from the combination of fleece, scissors, and good hearts.  The community service project asked FBLA members to exemplify SERVICE by creating blankets of all sizes, hand-cut and tied to be given to the patients at Children's Hospital Anschutz Medical Campus, Aurora.  More than 50 blankets were delivered after the conference.  The fleece blankets were part of the Fleece for Fighters; an exemplary display of service to the community from the mountaintops of FBLA.
