WHS Culinary Students Host Cooking Challenge Featuring Girl Scout Cookies
Chris Hill, a culinary arts teacher at Westminster High School (WHS), hosted a cooking challenge featuring Girl Scout Cookies. Students were tasked with the challenge to create an entree dish with a girl scout cookie, which could not be a dessert and competed against each other in a fun class contest.
“It gets their critical thinking going, gets them thinking outside the box, so hopefully that will transfer into their other classes as they take on other projects and problems,” said Chris Hill.
On Wednesday, February 19 students had one hour to prepare and present their dishes for judging. News cameras were on hand to watch the students cook up their dishes and present them to the judges. The judging criteria were originality & creativity, texture & color, cooking technique and flavor profiles. The winning dish was a Trefoil Shepherd’s Pie – click the link to get the recipe and see below for more recipes! The winning prizes were created by WHS engineering students who used a 3D printer to create the trophies for the winners.
