While many band and orchestra classrooms across the country are silent with students learning remotely, the Westminster High School (WHS) orchestra room is filled with the warm, vibrato sound of Ha Pham’s cello.
Pham began her journey on the cello with Daniel Williamson at Scott Carpenter Middle School and continued for the past two years with Michael Linert as a member of the WHS Orchestras.
More recently, Pham has received acceptance letters to multiple Colorado orchestras, including the Denver Young Artists Orchestra, where Ha competed against students up to age 23. In January, Pham received a near-perfect score performing an excerpt from Haydn's Cello Concerto in C Major, a piece which is performed by professional cellists worldwide.
Michael Linert, the WHS Orchestra and Mariachi director explains the excitement of Pham’s recent successes, “Her achievements both at the festival as well as over the summer winning positions in three of Colorado's top youth symphony orchestras, are exemplary for WHS students," said Linert. "By the time she graduates (May 2022), she will be one of the top performers from the WHS Performing Arts over the past 10 (or more) years.”
