Westminster High School’s Robert Ferguson Named a 2021 Teacher of the Year

Robert Ferguson, a Career Technical Education (CTE) teacher at Westminster High School (WHS) was selected as one of three educators in Westminster Public Schools who were honored as 2021 Westminster Elks Teachers of the Year honor. Ferguson’s teaching philosophy is grounded in mentorship, he lets students take ownership of their abilities and skills and he steps in when he finds his students struggling and tries to steer them in the right direction. While Ferguson has been teaching at WHS for four years, this is his first school year teaching the new Aerospace pathway.

CTE Administrator, Lottie Wilson nominated Ferguson for the award, mentioning to our Board of Education that Ferguson left a more lucrative career in the technology industry because he wanted to make a bigger impact on the world and young students.

Watch the video above to find out more about the new Aerospace pathway and why even through a pandemic, this has been one of Ferguson’s best years teaching.
