Marzano Academy Celebrates Veterans Day by Offering Home Repairs
In the spirit of last week’s Thanksgiving holiday, we hope you will take a moment to watch the What’s Up WPS exclusive video above to learn about a special event that happened right before fall break at John E. Flynn A Marzano Academy.
To honor the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I and the creation of Veterans Day, Adolfson & Peterson Construction sent some of its military veterans to the event offering to work on small projects around the homes of veterans who need assistance.
“It’s our way of saying thank you to those who have given so much for their country,” said Cynthia Qualls, librarian at the school and founder of the celebration. “Since this is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, we wanted to mark the occasion with something special. Adolfson & Peterson stepped in to help and we are so grateful for their support.”
The assembly helps students to better understand and appreciate the sacrifices made on their behalf. Veterans Day marks the anniversary of the end of World War I, at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918. At the time it was idealistically called, “The War to End all Wars.”
