Book Fair Adds Face Painting for an Enchanted Evening
The Scholastic Book Fair at John E. Flynn A Marzano Academy was especially colorful this year as students who showed up to add to their personal home libraries walked away with big smiles and painted faces.
Westminster High School art teacher, Michelle Music and six of her Student Council seniors brought their skills on Feb. 12 to paint kids' faces in the lobby as other students and parents shopped for new books. This year’s weeklong book fair theme, hosted in conjunction with Scholastic Books, was "Enchanted Forest."
This annual event not only allows families to buy new books, but it also serves as a fundraiser to bring new books into the classroom and support a program that has an author do a "Skype visit" with students to talk about the writer’s book.
For nearly 100 years, Scholastic has partnered with schools and school districts to open children’s eyes to the joys of reading. The idea is to inspire lifelong readers and learners.
