Weekly Update

HP Weekly Update for 7-26-2020

Hello Harris Park Families!

The first day of school for 1st through 5th grade is August 20th, 2020. The first day of school for preschool and kindergarten is August 24th. (Kindergarten will have a shortened first day of school.) A calendar is attached to your email. School hours are currently being established based on the safety needs during this unprecedented time. As soon as we know our daily hours, I will let you know.

Every student in grades preschool through 5th will have a brand new chromebook assigned to them. This will be the Chromebook checked out to the student at the beginning of each year for as long as they attend Harris Park. Additionally, every student will have the opportunity to take their Chromebook back and forth to school daily beginning August 28th. Each student is responsible for keeping their Chromebooks in excellent condition, and any breakage or damage is the responsibility of the family. Parents will receive a User Agreement that must be completed and signed prior to their child receiving a Chromebook.

Every student in the district is asked to pay a $40 technology charge. This charge will be reduced to $20 for each child in a family, if that family completes a Free and Reduced Meal application and pays the charge by September 1st. We ask every family to complete this application whether you believe you will qualify or not. A lot of our funding is based on the Free and Reduced Meal application being completed. You can complete the form now by clicking HERE. Select Colorado from the drop down menu for states and Westminster Public Schools from the School District menu. Select your language and click next to get started.

I am excited to let you know that the district will be offering Chromebook Insurance this year. This is an optional insurance costing $50 that is only able to be purchased after the technology charge is paid. If the assigned Chromebook is accidentally damaged or broken, the insurance will cover 100% of the cost of the first replacement. If you do not have insurance, the replacement charge is $220.

Did you know that you have to register your child every school year? If you have not registered your child or children for the 2020-2021 school year, please do so as soon as possible! If you are having difficulty with your user name or password, please reach out to us at 303-428-1721 or by emailing nrichey@westminsterpublicschools.org and we will provide you with the information you need. Click HERE to start your registration. Click on Parent Portal, enter your user name and case sensitive password. If you do not remember your password, we can reset it for you. Once in your application, you will need to review the information, but it should be prepopulated with the information you submitted last year.

With love,
